Success, step by step.
The history.

Delve into the development of our traditional industrial company and how it became a modern system supplier focussing on railway superstructure construction.

20 November 1811

Friedrich Krupp founds a steel casting plant. For him, the railways open up new possible applications for the hard-wearing cast steel. Besides axles and springs, Alfred Krupp produces the seamless and, thus, fracture-proof railway wheel tyres which he developed.

1875

On 9 December 1875, the image of three wheel rims laid one upon the other is registered for the first time as the trademark of Fried. Krupp at the Royal District Court in Essen, Germany. The three rings stand for “Iron and steel in addition to steel goods and ironware” and are to become a brand mark of worldwide renown.

1960

Fried. Krupp AG takes over Dolberg-Glaser & Pflaum, founded in 1954, which trades in industrial and narrow-gauge railways, construction machinery and construction equipment. Krupp continues it under the name of Krupp-Dolberg. This lays the foundation of our railway track systems of today.

1968

Changing the individual Krupp company into Fried. Krupp GmbH means a renaming of the Dolberg Division to Fried. Krupp Kesselfabrik Berlin and Krupp Druckemöller respectively.

1971

The various Divisions of the company are merged in Fried. Krupp GmbH, Eisen- und Stahlhandel.

1975

The name of Fried. Krupp GmbH, Eisen- und Stahlhandel, is changed to Krupp Stahlhandel.

1980

Krupp Handel GmbH which merges all essential trading and service activities is founded. Steel export, inland waterway transport and maritime transport, construction engineering and track systems, in addition to plant engineering.

1988

Lonrho Handel GmbH, Frankfurt takes a 50% share of Krupp Handel GmbH, Essen. This results in Krupp Lonrho GmbH.

1991/92

Fried. Krupp GmbH acquires 25% of the shares of Hoesch AG. Both companies merge to become Fried. Krupp AG Krupp-Hoesch. This results in Krupp Hoesch Handel GmbH.

1993

The Krupp Group once again takes over the industrial lead at Krupp Lonrho GmbH which, at the same time, is renamed to Krupp Hoesch International GmbH (KHI). KHI assumes management of the entire trade and services sector. Krupp GfT Gesellschaft für Anlagen-, Bau- und Gleistechnik mbH is registered.

1999

The merger of Thyssen and Krupp with retroactive economic effect, as of 1 October 1998, is completed under commercial law. Thyssen Handelsunion and Krupp Hoesch International (KHI) merge to become ThyssenKrupp Materials & Services AG with Krupp GfT Gesellschaft für Anlagen-, Bau- und Gleistechnik mbH.

2001

ThyssenKrupp Serv AG is founded as the independent managing company of the segment owing to the strategic realignment of the ThyssenKrupp Group (with ThyssenKrupp GfT Gesellschaft für Technik mbH).

2003

The formally independent segments of ThyssenKrupp Materials AG and ThyssenKrupp Serv AG merge to become ThyssenKrupp Services AG (with ThyssenKrupp GfT Gleistechnik GmbH).
