Completely flexible.
ISOLast and Railflex.

The ISOLast and Railflex rail fastening systems provide permanently elastic bedding for grooved and flat-bottomed rails and offer efficient protection from shocks and vibrations. They are used for road-based tracks and points for trams and urban railways. As a result of the installation conditions we recommend a maximum deflection of 1.5 mm. The systems decouple the surrounding layers of construction and create an extremely smooth track which in turn means a high level of comfort for passengers. Furthermore these systems achieve the electrical insulation demanded in EN 50 122 – 2.

Both feature two chamber sections which are bonded to the rail web. The base of the rail is covered with a base casing section to achieve the required deflection. To allow the deflection to take place in the track, the switch rods must be fitted with insulation sections. The systems make for easy installation and also absorb the forces to which they are exposed elastically without the sections suffering permanent deformation.

Normally an in-situ concrete base plate is cast, for which accuracy (20 ± 10 mm) is key. This is then moulded using non-shrinking cement mortar (ORTEC.grout) to allow the height adjustment. The filler concrete can be inserted up to approx. 30 to 40 mm below the top edge of the rail on the in-situ concrete base plate. The road surface can then be produced using cast asphalt leaving a recess for the width of the chamber elements. Finally a highly elastic bitumen-based grout sealing compound (ORTEC.ESV) must be inserted into the recess.
